Senseonics CGM Systems: Complete Product Lineup
Senseonics manufactures the only implantable continuous glucose monitor on the market — the Eversense system. Unlike adhesive-patch CGMs, the Eversense sensor is inserted under the skin by a healthcare provider and measures glucose using fluorescence technology for up to 1 year. Senseonics targets patients who want to eliminate frequent sensor changes and adhesive-related skin issues.
Senseonics produces the only implantable continuous glucose monitors on the market, using a fluorescence-based sensor that is inserted under the skin of the upper arm during a brief in-office procedure. The Eversense E3 lasts 6 months and the Eversense 365 lasts a full year — dramatically reducing the frequency of sensor changes compared to patch-based CGMs that require replacement every 7 to 15 days. Both sensors communicate with a removable smart transmitter worn on the arm that provides on-body vibration alerts, a feature unique to the Eversense platform.
Senseonics Holdings (NYSE American: SENS), headquartered in Germantown, Maryland, was founded in 1996 and has focused exclusively on long-term implantable glucose sensing technology since its inception. The company's fluorescence-based sensor technology differentiates it from all competitors, who use electrochemical approaches. While Senseonics holds a small market share compared to Dexcom and Abbott, its implantable technology serves patients for whom adhesive patch CGMs are impractical due to skin allergies, active lifestyles, or the desire to eliminate frequent sensor changes.
